planning a menu like this, you have to keep a couple of things in mind:
- you are the show case, not the food...don't let it steal the show. your date just needs to know that it tastes bloody delicious, they don't need to know how you julienned the kaffir lime and grated the palm sugar...if they ask for descriptions, remember:'less is more'
- 2 out of 3. you always want to deliver a great meal rather than a perfect meal; the potstickers are a great appetizer, the salad is a delicious main...so stoop low and serve vanilla ice cream from the carton for dessert. if you went to the trouble of making a sensational dessert as well, then you will come off as precious...and who wants a precious lover?
- this meal works because there is plenty of food, though the chances of it all being eaten are slim if you plan to get frisky later in the evening; if your bodies are the evening's playground, then no one wants a hill in the midsection. so this meal lets you pick lightly, come back for seconds if either of you choose to...or tuck into the leftovers in the heady afterglow
